- Philipe Ehrenberg was born in Mexico, in 1945. Although Mexican, Ehrenberg has a culturally diverse background. His father was a German Jew, who immigrated to Mexico shortly before the war. His mother was born in Chicago (half Irish-Catholic, and half Mexican) but was raised in Mexico. Ehrenberg, though partly Jewish, attended a German school in Mexico. He is a prominent Mexican artist who has been actively producing interactive political art, installations, and murals for 30 years. Also a writer, Ehrenberg has run a small press in Mexico City and has published numerous articles for art journals in the United States.
